All glass designated on the drawings as fire-rated and impact safety-rated shall be nominal 5/16" (8 mm) thick FireLite Plus supplied by Technical Glass Products. The surface condition shall be either: FireLite Plus Premium Grade (both surfaces are polished to eliminate any distortion; industry leader for quality and unmatched by alternative products or production methods); or FireLite Plus Standard Grade (may have slight surface waviness or imperfections which may become more apparent in larger sheet sizes; comparable to alternative fire-rated ceramics that are marketed as having a "Premium" finish).

Surface Option

For optimal clarity, FireLite Plus comes in two surface grades, consisting of two pieces of FireLite Premium Grade glass ceramic or FireLite Standard Grade glass ceramic (not available in Obscure).Because FireLite is made from transparent glass-ceramic, it differs in color from float glass. FireLite appears to have a warmer earth tone when compared to the blue green tint of typical float glass. However, like float glass, FireLite ceramic will not demonstrate a highly perceptible color once installed in a frame. Additionally, FireLite products are manufactured in three distinct surface grades (Premium, Standard and Obscure) that are best reviewed prior to specification. To maintain aesthetics, it is important to clean the glass during and after construction. For routine cleaning, use a soft, clean, grit-free cloth and a mild soap, detergent, or nonabrasive window cleaning solution.

Rinse immediately with clean water and remove any excess water from the glass surface with a squeegee. Do not allow any metal or hard parts of the cleaning equipment to contact the glass surface.
